friending an old teacher on facebook?

i recently found my old science teacher from junior high school (she doesn't teach me anymore) on facebook, and im in my second year of high school now. she was hard to find, and it happened by pure chance, and she doesn't even use the same last name as she did as a teacher but it's her because it's an almost completely public profile. we were sort of close - well not close as in hanging out all the time on weekends, but we talked about more than just schoolwork during class when there was time left over. she was a really awesome person, and i was wondering if it'd be too weird to try to reconnect with her over facebook?

It depends on the teacher. I was a full adult and graduated from high school and tried to reconnect with my first grade teacher, but for some reason she really freaked out about someone trying to reconnect. So... don't be surprised if the person uses facebook "just for family".
