How do I get rid of those Kaspersky ads?

I downloaded something from Kaspersky awhile back because of a problem I was having with my computer, now I think this stupid thing has infected my computer. I see kaspersky ads on facebook, youtube, google search, and even this little chess website I go to.

I know that is not a coincidence. Does anyone know how to remove that?

I remember that crap was on my dad's laptop. If you are not tech-savy, then save your important files to a flash drive or CD/DVD, and reinstall windows. There is no magic fix. For future reference: use something like AVG free or avast.

Adblock plus. Also download the adversity and antisocial lists for best ultimate freedom from ads.

Also, just buy the Kaspersky software. I usually don't like to suggest products especially when they aren't free and open source. I used to tell people to get ClamAV because it's freeware and made by good people... but after carefully reviewing lab data on AV protection rates over the past year and half, I have learned that Kaspersky is pretty much the best AV suite on the market and well worth the money.

Bit Defender is actually the strongest performer in 2012 so far with a 99.6% protection rate in patched Windows 7 systems. Kaspersky and G DATA are not to far behind at around 99.5%. However, Kaspersky has a complete IDS solution.

If the ads have the title "Ads not by Facebook" that means they are being inserted by an adware / malware program. To get rid of it, first uninstall any browser extensions or other software that you have installed recently, and are not sure about, as its quite likely one of those is inserting the ads.

If that doesnt work, the next step is to do an antimalware scan. I recommend "MalwareBytes Anti Malware" and also "Super Anti Spyware". Sometimes its worth scanning with both, as sometimes one program will catch something and the other wont.

Once you have cleaned out the malware. A good solution for hiding the "normal" facebook ads that Facebook displays itself, is to install the FB Purity browser extension, which hides all Facebook's own ads. It also has lots of other options for cleaning up other types of facebook junk. Its been reviewed and highly rated in the Washington Post, CNET, Lifehacker and PCWorld.
