A different style is needed for "interruption ads" on Facebook, in contrast to the search matched ads on Google Adwords, a more friendly, softer sale approach is appropriate. They are pretty demanding about you using normal grammar and punctuation, no eye catching punctuation sequences or excess capitols.

The pictures are very important, use something unusual that breaks through the banner blindness, bright backgrounds help, some use slightly out of focus images to attract a second squint. Ads and images need to be switched out after any sign of the CTR dropping, ad fatigue is a problem on Facebook.

1. Before you set-up an ad on FB, Please decide clear strategy - what the ad is for ? And after I get visitors [impressions] to my ad , where do I want to take them to ? In other words , what is the call to action ?

2. Usually if you offer something FREE and advertise that in the ad , it works better.

3. I will go further and say :

a. Create a professional fan page with additional tab
b. Upload the FREE gift on that tab.
c. Create "LIKE" condition for this tab. After LIKE they will get access to the gift.
d. Get their email in exchange of the gift. Connect your email form to this.

4. This way , you will get more likes & email IDs too for selling in future!

Detailed steps are given in the source sites.
