Do you have any friends on your FACEBOOK friend list who've never even said a word to you?

What makes it weird is they were the ones who made the friend requests. Now my theory is that these people are probably looking for some kind of advertising exposure, or perhaps they're competing with someone to have the largest number of friends on Facebook.
I don't have the balls to start talking to thsese semi-strangers first, but I don't lose sleep over this either. Just wonder how you guys respond to this this kind of thing.

A lot of people do that. I used to have over 13 friends, but 9 of them never said a word, so I removed them. Now I have 4 friends of facebook, which is plenty for me because I actually talk to people on the telephone and other old fashioned communication like electronic mail.

Yes, I just disregard them and pay them no mind.. But if I get annoyed by their status updates bombarding everything else on my newsfeed or constant invites to crap I really don't care about... I slide my mouse over to the 'Remove as friend' button

yes i do because i have tons of people that i know who they are but we never talk(in person or on fb)

yeah. probably i only know 65% of my friends either personally or just by face. and only 25% people who knows me and are my friends or relatives.. like the other guy said, when they become so annoying on news feed i delete them..
