Can you send a friend request to someone who has blocked you on facebook?

What I mean is, let's say for instance you were friends with someone on fb and one day you notice you have not seen any status updates. You search their name on fb and their profile comes up as private and you can't even see their profile picture; they blocked you. Can they recieve any messages you send to them and moreso if you send a friend request to them, will they have the option to accept it or does it not even get sent to them? Thanks!

If they have blocked you, you shouldn't even be able to see their name pop up when you search for it. They won't receive any of your messages or anything either.

if their profile comes up then they didnt block you, they just added you to their restricted list, or removed you as a friend
