Can people see what Facebook Groups you join?
I want to join a LGBT group on Facebook (one of my university's clubs), but I don't want any of my friends to see, since I'm not "out" yet...

Once I'm accepted into the group, will it show up on my news feed? If so, is there any way to prevent it from showing up?

Yes it shows. and I don't know of a way to stop it unless you get to the feed and click "remove from feed" but even then I bet people will have seen it by then anyway :/
