Would this be a good idea or a waste of money?
I have a small online business in which I promote and get a commission. I could let Youtube post ads on videos for $180 and 1,000 views. What's the probability some one will visit my site? What about Facebook ads?

It depends on the business. You have the right idea now you just need to advertise like crazy.
