Who sees posts in open Facebook groups?

I'm a member of an open fb group. I posted something on the group's page, and it showed up on the story ticker for recent stories. My real question is: since it is an open group, does this mean that all of my friends can see on their story ticker thing what I write in the group? If so, how can I change it so my friends aren't notified?
