Help with facebook privacy and cookies?
Mkay, so, I started facebook a few days ago, and I read that they track you, even if you log out! I checked and several sources said this. It's called "frictionless sharing" Look, several sources (sorry they aren't links, I'm level 1 troll, but right now I am serious. If you don'.t trust me, fine - google "facebook tracks after you log out." They are the first things that pop up):
http://www.zdnet.com/blog/facebook/faceb...g-out/4034 http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2393564,00.asp http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2012...ogging-out http://www.nikcub.com/posts/logging-out-...not-enough http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2011...e-tracking I don't like my sites visited being shared, but facebook posts them (when I'm logged in) anyways. I don't want the same to happen when I'm not logged in. You all use the internet - you know perfectly well there are many guilty pleasures other people have no right knowing. Anyhoo, the just says: "In order to prevent Facebook from being able to track you, you need to delete all Facebook-related cookies once you've logged out." I use Google chrome. If I go to settings, advanced settings, content settings (under privacy), and tell it to "Keep local data only until I quit my browser" under the cookies section, then close my browser every time I finish using facebook, will I be safe from this then? you have on option on your facebook account settings to turn it off, its not actually facebook that tracks you but the website that you visit is the one that wants to connect to facebook because they want to optimize their site or advertise on facebook. note: not all the articles on you read online are fact i've seen the links and some of them no reliable references

Facebook sells your information to people who serve ads, and yes they know all the sites you visit that have "Like" buttons on them.
If you're not OK with that, quit Facebook. You have free will. There are lots of alternatives, like Google+ or Mutineer.org or even Flickr. |
