How does facebook timeline determine friends order on a friends/non-friends profile when I view their list?

I've noticed while going through a friends and non-friends profile that on their friendslist in time line an old friend who I've had a falling out with usually appears near the top. Occasional that does change and they are listed near the bottom of the list. I'm just wondering if the friendslist order on timeline list's people diffidently on a friend/non-friends profile than my own? Or if facebook could be taking into account that I use to be friends with this guy at one point?

usually mutual friends will show first, and then other people you may have talked to, or other people who live in the same city, go to the same school... if there are not enough of those matches, the rest are just randomly selected
