If you want more followers, you have to tweet, in general, about anything. If you tweet about something you really like, and comment every now and then, followers will eventually come along.

As an example (and not a good one for today's PC society), I tweeted about cigars after I followed Cigar Aficianado magazine. I responded to some of their tweets and retweeted some that they posted. After awhile, other cigar smokers began to follow me.

Same with Bicycling (Tour de France), etc.
