Why do the same people always appear on my facebook friends list?

I just asked the same question! Facebook claims it's randomly generated and tends to include people you have more public interactions with (wall posts, tagged photos, etc.) But there's someone that ALWAYS appears on my list who I only have private interactions with (facebook chat, stalking, haha) It freaks me out too, it really makes me curious about how they track this.

I wouldn't worry about people knowing you stalk them though since the list is definitely mixed with random people.

“Friends who you publicly interact with the most appear first on your profile. Examples of public interactions include Wall posts, comments and mutually attended events — Facebook will never show friends based on whose profiles you choose to view or who you interact with over messages and chat.”
