How do I post one of those 'tiny urls' in Twitter?

Normally any url I want to post is hundreds of (seemingly) random characters long and therefore too big to fit into the 140 character limit that Twitter imposes.

I may be being dim, but I couldn't find any anyswers in Twitter's 'Help' section!

You get 140 characters. That's it. If the link doesn't fit, it doesn't fit.

If you REALLY wanted to, you could post the Tiny URL link somewhere else and link to the link. A forum or something would work.

Go to tinyurl.com, put the long url in the box and press Make TinyURL! Then copy and paste the result in your twitter.
