do they really work , can you really find out.

Those groups are a clear violation of the Facebook Privacy Policy, and they are an attempt to fool you likely for spamming purposes. Have a nice day.

no they do not work, and violate facebook's privacy policies. the list is generated by adding people that you have talked to recently, and then also randomly adds some others to the list. The program just wants to create hype for advertising purposes. It is not possible to truly track who visits your profile.

You could obtain the IP addresses of visitors to your profile, but in order to trace an IP to someone's house/work address you would need a law enforcement agency or a very skilled hacker, but this method has nothing to do with the facebook apps you are asking about.
