Why do Facebook privacy settings don't always work?
I have correctly set my privacy in everything to 'only friends'; including all photo albums, AND 'profile picture' to 'only friends' , in addition Search is limited to only friends too. I have un-ticked the 'public search box, from the moment it appeared. YET, my profile picture is available to anyone, and Facebook links with my name come up on Google search all the time.
I use Facebook to connect with real life friends and family, particularly those who live a long way off.
What can I do to ensure FB setting work? Please help.

Facebook is partly funded by the CIA, and coded by idiots who keep changing the format... but never make the functionality any better.

Hi Laurel,

Once you’ve changed your settings on Facebook, there may be a delay until the external search directory updates. During this time period, your public search listing link may appear in an external search engine result, but users will be unable to actually view the public search listing. Clicking the search result link should not display your public search listing.

To request the immediate removal of this search listing, you will have to contact the search engine in question ie Google.

Please note too, that if you make posts in Facebook 'open' groups or forums then these posts will be available on search engines too, so bare that in mind before posting anything.

Also, double check your 'Privacy Settings' regularly, as whenever Facebook changes its format, layout etc. I find my settings all spring back to the default settings which means everybody can see every move I make until I change them back to 'Only Friends'.

Anyway, hope this helps a little, good luck.
