I'd hate to sound like it

I was reading through my statuses on Facebook and kids were complaining about how our senior school jackets being an awful colour. There was a group of us students at school who got to help design them - the 'jacket committee' we were called. We felt pretty proud that we got to help out with the jackets, so I commented on the status in a sort of defence. I said, "I'm on the jacket committee and we just had to pick a neutral colour that would suit everyone "

I've said this a few times on Facebook and I don't want to sound like I'm showing off. Does it?
