How to hide the groups i join on facebook?

I went to application settings and edit settings and chose "only me". So i think it will hide my groups on my facebook page. but here's my question, on everyone's news feed on their home page it will say "so and so has just joined ______" with the group name. will it still say this in everyone's personal news feed if i have it set to "only me"?

Unfortunately since the compulsive changes in last december you can't hide the groups and fan pages you are in. There's a lot of people complaining about this, and I'm one of them.
