How do I start a friendship with this guy naturally?

Well I'm new friends to his best friend, who is a girl. Me and him met and it was so weird but it was very quick because I was leaving.
I keep thinking about him and he added me on Facebook and followed me on Twitter, but hasn't said anything yet.
I don't want to ruin my friendship with "her" though because she does talk to his x. How should I go about this? It was just like when we locked eyes, it was weird! And I knew he felt it too

I would strike up a innocuous conversation on FB: how are you, what you doin', hows school etc etc
Get a line of communication going. Let it develop.
Tell him what you like doing and give him an opportunity to get together socially, or maybe alone.
