School debate: HELP!!!?
if my make this statement:
Collective bargaining is necessary when natural monopoly happen. the monopolist will be able to get away with underpay their employee because the employee wouldn't be able to find another job that require his/her skill.

the other team would say:
in modern world, people could easily get transfer to another profession based on their skill. like a public prosecutor will have acquired professional skills that enable a relatively quick transition into private or commercial civil practice.

i need help on that part. i couldn't help to find that it's true and extremely difficult to counterattack it... my group have 4 people and 3 of them enjoy going on facebook more than reading articles. i want to win the debate because if i lose, then it's mean F.
uhm, first of all, English is not my birth language; it's Vietnamese and Chinese (oh and if you didn't know, they are very different from English.)
Second, that example is not mine. it's from a web site that my teacher gave me.

third, please spare me if you have anything against me or my question because i'm still in high school and much of what I say or write are uninformed and childish. I wouldn't mind take criticisms, if it doesn't show things like "shame on you" for this or for that.

I would love to abandon my work, but it would mean receiving F, which is not going to help my current grade. i'm doing as many stuffs as i can so that when it's my turn, i would still have a chance to win (though the chance is going to be very small if none of teammates willing to work.)

If English is your first language, you should be ashamed of your poor grammar and spelling.
A prosecutor? Prosecutors are elected usually, and their assistants/deputy District Attorneys are on contract and salary. That is the opposite of collective bargaining.
the main reason for organizing workers into a union and bargaining collectively is to counterbalance the much stronger negotiating position of the employer, who has the power to fire and replace workers. The union helps the workers by exercising (or threatening to exercise) the right to strike- that prevents the boss from firing people who won't automatically accept the wage that the employer offers.

Collective bargaining also means that firefighters can negotiate to get the supplies they need instead of relying on a bureaucrat that never fought a fire to make that decision alone.

Not that I agree with Michigan's Proposal 2 (because as written, it could hurt small business owners and thus discourage new business in the state, and my state needs new business), but you should look up those pro-Mich prop 2 commercials and websites. It's bound to have info that's pro-collective bargaining.

Well they can move on to other jobs that require such skills or even learn new skills. However, maybe they don't want to move on. Someone spending years of their life learning skills in college to have it all thrown away by having to choose between staying in this corrupt company or starting all over learning new skills and not applying their previous skills is very destructive. Such an idea undermines the motives and intent of the individual for purpose, mastery, and autonomy. This worker spent a large amount of his/her adult life working at honing their skills in order to pursue this field. Now we are left with people who would be better suited organizing data out picking apples for a living rather than have the best skilled worker for the job. Such an atmosphere of work destroys production and innovation because the needed people with the right skills are at the wrong jobs where they have no good benefit.

I have not studied on Collective Bargaining though so that is your problem but the ideas I mentioned are just some common sense cause and effect of what would occur if such a shift in the market were to occur.
