Facebook can be targeted to the extreme so it makes it much more attractive to a lot of companies. Facebook is now surpassing Google in some searches. If Facebook were a country, it would be the worlds 3rd largest.

Social media allows you to build a relationship with your prospects which in turn, relates to higher conversion rates.

Braxton is right, Renee is also right but Facebook fails at giving you revenue!

Google all the way simply because facebook users are so used to being spammed with ads.
THEY DON'T CLICK!
no click means no money for you.

Google ads can be moved, customized and everything.
Facebook = no. only the best narrowed targeted users but there's no conversion rate.

you need CTR for a good ROI

that's the rule!

If you like my answer, please vote for it!
Its important for me!

thanks

It depends on what you're selling.

As has been already pointed out, Facebook gives you better targeting, but you have to consider why people go to Facebook, and how receptive they will be to what you're advertising.

On the other hand, when people go to Google, the people who see your ads will be looking for exactly what you sell. Assuming you know what you're doing with Google AdWords of course!

Our AdWords Cheat Sheet should help:

Just to add to the advice above, it really depends on what you are looking to achieve.

I am assuming that a high conversion rate and, ultimately, a high volume of quick sales, is what you are looking for, rather than a more slow burn branding effect. Everything I have read suggests that that the Click Thru rate on Facebook Ads just don't compete with what you might expect on Google Adwords - have a look at this blog

If you are a large company looking for more of a slow burn play then the demographic targeting of facebook is undoubtedly useful. But is stands to reason that a user is more likely to click through if they are in the active process of searching, than if they are chatting etc. on Facebook.

I have a community page in facebook and organic search in google.
Facebook will give you branding and tell people know who you are and what you sell but when it comes to buying of the product they will use google.
google will have less impression but the conversion rate will be much higher as compare to facebook. facebook still do not know when and how to show ads.
