IPhone 4s app question?
So I just got my iPhone and when I click the home button twice some apps show up that I recently used. Are these apps running? If I have the Facebook app under it is it using my data?

it depends
it shows you your recently used apps.
if you think facebook is using your data then make sure you log out every time you close the facebook app because it will probably used a little bit of your data even if its closed

They are "frozen" in memory. This means that they are not running, but will be able to load instantly from where you last closed the app should you reopen the app. It does not hog data, so don't worry about it (unless you start a download and close the app - in this case, it will still use data most of the time, depending on the app).

Not running but are taking up memory while open, this is so they are faster. If you have an older iphone it pays to close them as the phone will run faster. Later phones like 4 / 4S / 5 are so much better hardware that its really not necessary to close them unless its something you only open once every month or so, etc.

They are just your history apps and they are not running.

some apps are actually running in the background and some are not running, go download the Carat app from the app store. It will take a couple days to weeks for the Carat to find what is still running in the background, depending on how often you use any of the apps and how often you check back on Carat.
