How do you know if someone deleted their facebook?

This guy I use to talk to I came across his profile the other day, and was going to request him, but I didn't. Today I went back to type in his name and I cant find him I even tried going to peoples pages and family members pages I knew were friends with him and I still cant find his page. Plus I logged into another account to see if I type in his name in the search box or family or friends page if it would pop up then and it still didn't. I also went to a friend's photo he put is thumbs up to and its gone. So does this man he deactivated his Facebook account. He doesn't even know I found his page Ive never talk to him on Facebook before I was actually hoping to reconnect with him.

Yes if you can find the anywhere, then they disconnected thier account
