How do you block someone from posting on your facebook timeline?

I mean, I don't want to block them or unfriend them, but they keep posting absurd and unnecessary things on my wall. I want to know how I can change the settings so that they cannot write on my timeline.

All you can do is tell them to stop. You could x all the posts that they post. Its all up to you other than that. I would just unfriend them but I see you don't want to. Just talk to the person and unfriend them if they keep it up. After you unfriend them for a while friend them back and say I'm going to have to unfriend you if you write that stuff again? there is a privacy setting to prevent everyone from starting a new post on your timeline, but not just for one person

and there is no setting to prevent people from commenting on something they can see

so your best option would be to add them to your restricted list, however they will still be able to start new posts on your timeline, they just wont be able to see your status updates anymore
