I am on twitter and I have only followed 4 people but 2400 Why does TWITTER say follow limit?

My twitter account was new I am only following 4 people but have over 2000 followers. Yet Twitter keeps on saying today that I have reached my follow limit. So I can't even follow above 4 people tis pathetic. Anyone else had this problem please help.

If you don't know the majority of twitter followers, then it's most likely there are from people looking to promote their business or they could be advertising for pornography websites. You can delete/block these followers and start adding people you want to follow. Over 2000 is way too much, as I remember just having about 50. Check your account setting details again. Since you only just started, you could always delete your account and start again.
