Do you think it's weird to call a dog your "soul mate"?

Do you think it's weird to call a dog your "soul mate"?
I often think of my Rottweiler as my best friend, I can't connect with any human the way that I can him. He's so attentive to my feelings & moods in a way that nobody else is. And I take him everywhere with me because I just have the best time with him.

So I was walking him toady, and a group of people (i think they were all just friends) stopped me and asked about him, I told him I'd had him for 2 years and he's just the greatest dog. And they were all like "aweee, he is really cute!"... And they asked if he knew any tricks, so I showed them what he could do. Then they were like "Wow I can't even get my dog to give me howdy, he must really love you haha" and I was like "yeap, he does, I love him too, this boy here is my soul mate"
And that's when they all looked at me like I was a freak.

Why is that weird? I do think that. I think that if souls are real, his and mine were created to meet and be with each other... Of course I don't mean romantically, ew. But I mean in a best friend kind of way.
Why is not weird to say "man's best friend" but it is to say soulmate.

Now this has got me rethinking everything. I have a picture of him on my facebook, he's sitting there looking all cute with his toy & the picture is titled "My Soul Mate<3"... Should I change the title?
Henry - How is that ANYTHING like beastiality?
Kayleigh - What are you even talking about? They were grown a$$ people in their 40's. A lot older than me, where did you even get "child" from? And why would I care if a child thought something was weird anyways.

An animal and human connection is so deep and true because you have to be kind and patient in order to show love, rather than humans because we can verbally speak it. Don't get discouraged! They just don't know the love of owning a dog! They're so loyal! And when one of those friends looks at you wrong again, guess whose gonna be there to make you forget about them, THE DOG. Dogs are amazing. I love my poochie.

I wouldn't change it. Pets whether they are dogs, cats, fish, or birds are our best friends. Think about it. We tell them things that we wouldn't even tell our human best friends, or even a human soul mate. Dogs are great this way. They don't judge you, they are all about making you happy, and protecting you. They can sense when we need them to be affectionate or when we feel the need to be left alone. They are always there to greet us, and no matter how long we've been gone, is too long for them! It shouldn't be weird to say that any pet is your soul mate. I think it's just that you are more intuitive about your dogs actions and reactions to you. People that think its weird, do not possess the deeper thinking skills and consider them property only.

Don't change it! Be who you are and let your feelings on it, be the only opinion that matters. In the long run, people will pop in and out of our lives all the time, while your dog will remain true and always be there for you just like a soul mate would!

Of course that's weird! But...i expect to hear this weird crap on here. Only people that have no friends, family or life feel like that about their animals. That's the truth.

You can call him what you want but, as a child, you have no idea what a soul mate actually is. If i was one of those kids, that's exactly how i would of looked at you too

I just assumed. I still think it's weird though!

It's not weird at all and no you shouldn't change the title of the pic because others think it is weird. And for those who say only people with no life family or friends feel that way about a dog, screw them, they are a perfect example of why dogs and cats are so much better than most people. You love your dog so I imagine your dog has a great life, enjoy your soul mate and never mind those who have a problem with it because they are the type that find problems in everything.
