can she know I checked her facebook profile?

I know people can't generally find out who visited their profile. yesterday I checked one of my highschool friend's profile but didn't add her. a day after she sent a request to me! how could this be possible? I wonder if it's just a weird accident

yes it was just a weird accident she would be unable to see if you had checked her profile picture

People can't know if you check they're profile they only know how many views there profile gets. It might of been possible that she was also searching for you at the same time or maybe you liked one of her photos or status and might led her to send you a friend request.

Sometimes when you visit a page, Facebook does remember what you visit and might put your profile on the "People You May Know" list for people that haven't added you. (You know that little box that sometimes shows up on the right of your news feed with random friend suggestions)...

She doesn't know you checked, but Facebook assumes that you knew her and lightly suggests to her that she adds you.
