Is the Photas app on facebook a virus?

I was on facebook and received a notification saying that a friend had tagged me in a photo. When i clicked on the notification, it asked me to add an application called 'Photas'. When I agreed to add it, it immediately sent a notification to all of my online friends, with the same message about being tagged in a photo. The application itself was just ads. Is this a virus?

lool, same happened to me, personally i think it is a virus or is fake, dont click on it, it doesnt look very trustworthy =]

Yes it is..do not click on it and if you have, promptly do a virus scan. Don't ever click on links or apps that don't look trustworthy.
