What languages are used to develop these type of game apps?

I'm learning python just for understanding concepts and what not.

I'm curious to what languages are used to make games on iOS or apple mobile devices, android devices, and facebook apps. Thanks

Also other things like resources to learn these as well.

One more simple question which is kinda silly
But is reading books to learn to program good, or should i just look at online tutorials and read those and code?

I remember seeing a few things about iOS apps for iPOD Touch / iPhone / iPAD..... the programming language is called "coco" / "cocoa" if I remember correctly, and the developers website for it can be found at:
