If you have 1 amazing catchy song, people will still follow you on twitter, or on facebook.
Then add new songs as you go, Because Not everyone is going to sit down and listen to allll your songs seeing if they like you.
Where as if they like 1 song they will be like I defo like there sound.
I think you should start with twitter, and market yourself on there, Its a great way to get others to listen to you

Go for it! As said by the guy above, 1 good song is all it takes. Don't give up your live performances though those are what give you the biggest leg up ever.
