I don't want to put my relationship status on Facebook...?
So I recently got into a serious relationship.
My boyfriend sent me a request on Facebook to add me as his girlfriend.
I don't particularly like putting my relationship status on Facebook because I value my privacy.
Do I just tell him that I don't feel comfortable putting it on Facebook?
Please don't get me wrong, I'm not ashamed of him or anything. I just like my privacy.

Also, a side question for anyone, if your significant other wanted to keep your relationship status off Facebook for the same reasons, would you be offended?

You could simply just tell him how you feel and I am pretty sure he would understand. Or if you don't want to hurt his feelings, you could just accept it and change the privacy of your profile so it does not show your relationship status online and other people won't see.

you can change the privacy settings on the relationship status so only certain people see it or certain people dont. under privacy settings, there should be a little pull down menu with the public, friends of friends, or friends (depending on your current privacy settings). click custom, and set the custom privacy.

And if anything, you should be able to tell him you dont want to put it on facebook, he should understand Smile

You do exactly as you say:
You tell him that you don't feel comfortable putting your relationship status of Facebook, but not because you are ashamed of him or anything, but because you're a paranoid freak and value your privacy.

He should understand. If he doesn't, propose to delete your Facebook account altogether, so as to signify the extent of how little is it of worth to you. He'll turn the offer down, of course. :-)
