My iPod won't let me download instagram or kik or Facebook?

So I had an iPod touch, idk what generation (it doesn't have a camera.) and then i got an iPhone and reset my iPod, took all the apps, music, everything off. Now, a year later, I'm trying to download apps like instagram, kik, and Facebook and it keeps popping up saying "This app requires i.O.S 4.3" I plugged it into the computer and clicked check for update and nothing came up. How do I fix this?? Thanks

I hate to break it to you, but Apple doesn't update the older iPods. The iPod 2g, and 3G were left in the dust, and the highest the IOS can go is 4.2.1. This obviously means that a lot of apps cannot run on older iPods. Your only choice is to get an IPod 4g, or an IPhone 4-5
