Samsung Monte - do the apps work with Wi-Fi?

I'm getting a Samsung Monte in the next couple of days and I'm just wondering if the social networking apps (Facebook/MSN etc) use the Wi-Fi if you are connected or whether they always use the mobile internet?

I know obviously I can use them via Wi-Fi if I use the web browser like a computer, but just asking specifically about the applications themselves (I don't have any mobile internet allowance on my contract).
