Why are people so obsessed with school?

All my friends who graduated high school this year I have added on Facebook and all they do is talk about midterms and tests and school and homework all the time on their statuses. It's so annoying and it seems really boring, frankly. Why are they so obsessed with school and not concerned about living their life and having fun? It's so weird to me how they think it's okay to not have time for anything but studying.

Because they've been brainwashed. It's similar to why they're obsessed with the ridiculous Obama and is Socialist crap.

Because we are in school for about half the year and I guess it just drills into their brains

It's really important to them. Thats just the way they think. I was just the same - obsessed with studying, and desperate for good grades. Thing is, I don't regret a thing, because I got a good mark, and went on to do well. This is just something that's important to them - like living life is important to you. I bored my friends like hell with my grades and assignments, but it all worked out in the end. I know it's boring, just respect that its their hopes and dreams, and they are desperate to achieve them

Maybe that's all they have going in their lives? The people I know who have went to universities never talk about their school life. They're doing it for themselves and nobody else. Maybe it's just an excuse for having no plans on a Friday night.

You mean they're in college now? It's because when you're paying thousands of dollars a year for it, it's generally a good idea to take it seriously. If you do well in college and get a good paying job, you've got the next 60 years of your life to have fun.
