Commenting on a guys status?

It's a long story, but I like this guy and he's 22, I'm 18. We've met once, both like each other but live far away and we've decided he's coming to see me when we are both free. We don't talk all the time, but about once a week. What are the rules on commenting on his status'. He's only ever liked stuff on my facebook, and talked in chat. He has said before that his friends are 'should I say rude', and like to 'harass' each other.

Will he find it annoying if I commented? Should I do it?
Sounds stupid but I don't want to scare him off or look desperate..

Don't overthink it. Just comment if you want to. Try not to comment on every single status though; that would seem desperate.
