I just found out(on FACEBOOK)! That I have court tomorrow morning!?
I looked at my Facebook this evening and saw that one of my "friends" had posted that I have a court proceeding in the morning! I have not been served anything concerning the matter. The petitioners were very aware of my location, and even if they tried to say they were not; they knew my last known address( and the residents of that address knew of my approximate location, close enough to locate me.. anyway. ( and for the record I was not trying to make my whereabouts unknown, only to distance myself from certain people and situations) have not been legally notified by police nor has anything been published requesting my appearance. I learned of it solely by reading a Facebook post. Apparently, there were papers filled over 60 days ago which puts me in a losing situation regarding my response to the petition. I cannot afford a lawyer(who could probably pull strings to get a response in on my behalf) by morning! Is this legal? What should I do? PLEASE HELP

I would just show up and inform the judge about all you just posted. At least they will see that you are sincere about showing and maybe they will give you adequate time to get your case together.

Call the court, or better yet, go in when this Facebook entry says you are due. Take copies of the postings. It could be a hoax but keep working on it until you find the correct court that is having the hearing and they have your correct address. Having your approximate location isn't enough...nobody is going to drive around or go door-to-door to look for you. You say there are petitioners, so there may very well be a court date.

Phone the clerk of the court and confirm. Could be a hoax, or you forgot you were served 4 - 6 months ago. Never heard of people that have to be in court and were not served with a notification.
Registered post or hand delivered, by the sheriff.
Peace.

Facebook has you detached from reality. If you did not hear about it from The Court, it does not exist.
