Why would someone do this to me?

Why would someone do this to me?
I'm a female in my mid-twenties. I have good grades, look fashionable and get along well with my classmates. A while ago I found out that someone hacked my school account. I've noticed my student account number out of the blue on a computer screen at the school library. I never sat at that computer, so it was really strange. This person has checked my inbox and grades.

3 weeks later I received a message in my Facebook Inbox.
It said: Hey (my name) Want to go out tomorrow night?
The sender was an old classmate/friend who I send messages to once in a while.
It seemed pretty odd, because she would never send such a short message. We always send each other long messages.
I replied that it would be great to hang out, so I gave my BB ping number.
It took 2 days until I got a BB Ping friend request. I got a feeling that things just didn't add up.
I decided to ignore the friend request.

A week later I received again a Facebook message from my so-called friend. It said: Hey (my name), it's been a week ago since I sent you a message. Still haven't heard anything from you. It might have been some miscommunication. No worries. You still haven't confirmed my friend request. Wink

I changed all my passwords. I found out that the person was trying to get into my Facebook account again. This person might have hacked my friends account as well.
Eventually I decided to shut down my Facebook account.

At college things were different than usual. My classmates were acting a bit strange.
Some of the guys faces turned red when I looked at them.
I didn't do any harm. I also don't gossip about people.
I have a gut feeling that it is one of my classmates, but I don't understand why someone would do this to me. I only have a few guy classmates in my Facebook friend list, because I worked with them in project groups. I don't really talk much with the guys, mostly with the girls.

Unfortunately I couldn't track down the person. I've tried it several times. If I had the evidence I would go to the police right away. But then again, it wasn't really a threat...

Yikes, sounds like something from a horror movie. You have to call the police because you are being stalked, whether you like it or not. If you do not take action as soon as you can, you might regret it later on. You never know what this 'friend' might try next. Breaking into your house? Maybe.

I don't understand why you shut down your account. The obvious solution would have been to change your password, then CALL your friend and ask if they had sent you a request. If they said no, then you block the person who is asking and continue on your way.

It was smart of you to change your passwords and to shut down your Facebook account. I hope your new passwords are strong and not easy to guess. I made the mistake some time ago of having a relatively weak password for my e-mail and it ended up getting hacked. Here are some tips on how to make your passwords more secure if you are not already aware of how to do it (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windo...de194b50).

You need to repost this in a different forum like dating or something.
