Is there a threat in excepting an unkown friend request on Facebook even if you have a lot of mutual friends?

I thought I saw an article on Yahoo a little while back that said to be careful if you receive a Facebook friend request from someone you dont know, especially if you have a lot of mutual friends. Does anyone know anything about this?

There are people on Facebook who will post links that say stuff like, "Click here to see a great picture". But then, when you click there, it's a virus. That's why your school blocks Facebook. They know that their network will become infested with viruses if they let the kids on there.

to put it in a nutshell, if it's someone you don't know but they're mutual friends with someone, that just means that one of your friends is also friends with this person. it still doesn't mean it's safe to add them. for example, it could be someone trying to get information on a bunch of people and acting like an attractive female to get a bunch of friends. once they get accepted by someone, they can then find other people that are friends with the person they are now friends with.

Ya you should be carefull about your facebook friend request. They try to get your information when you accept their request. So if you donot know then donot add then into your list. Enjoy with your facebook.
