Should i pick Yahoo or Amazon to host my server?

Hello, I would like to know someones opinion on a current site i am building. The website is similar to Facebook in have features such as profile, updates, comments and messaging, chat system for 1-1 and also a community base one. Since it will be finished and online by October i would like to know which is the most cost efficient for the beta/beginning phase, since of course i don't know if it will gather a high trafficking from my website.

Currently i am interested in these two especially since i heard Amazon is very good but if someone knows of a better hosting site which can provide the necessity i would need please mention the site.

Those 2 you listed are probably the least desirable. Go with a local web host that way they will give you good support.

For resource intensive website, you should use dedicated hosting servers (they are expensive) like from limestonenetworks, rackspace etc.

You can supplement it using amazon's aws service for static elements of your website like css files, images etc
