Messaging a girl I like?

So there is this girl that I like. I only have her in one class, gym. I have never really talked to her before. The biggest issue is that she is very popular, and me, not so much. It's really hard to talk to her in person because she is always with a huge group of friends, and as I stated, I only have her in one class. Do you think that sending her a Facebook message along the lines of "Why hello there!" Or just a simple "Hello!" or something is acceptable? If not, then what other ideas do you have?

a simple hello will do it but remember be yourself there is a lot of girls out there dont get stuck with one
there is a mexican song called "Mas fuerte que Hercules" (Stronger than Hercules) that says why should you get stuck with 1 single girl if there are MILLIONS out there...

Yeahh you can message her but whether she thinks your creepy or not really rests on the fact of whether she thinks you are attractive or not. sorry its really hard to say what her reaction will be without know ing that
