Is it illegal for sex offenders to have a Facebook profile?
I know a woman who was convicted of molesting her younger brother in 2007, and just recently I found out she has a facebook page. I know it's against facebook's terms and conditions for a convicted sex offender to have a profile, but is actually a legal violation for them to be on facebook? I need to know if I should contact the local police department or not.
That's unfortunate, because this woman is a predator and should not be allowed on social networking sites in my opinion.

Facebook prohibits accounts of convicted sex offenders. To have them removed you need to do one of the following:

â– Link to a listing in a national sex offender registry
â– Link to an online news article
â– Link to a court document
â– Documentation verifying the report attached to the sex offender report form

As for a "law" against a Facebook account...there are cases where a person was convicted of a probation violation that prohibited the account on a social network.
