that lets them search for anyone who was talking to them. The @username is called a reply. You can check your replies on the web from your homepage of your account. It will show all the tweets that have your name in it. Works well on follow friday where u add alot of names to suggest to others to follow you. They end up sending out the same message(retweet) and all their users have a chance to add you.
