Facebook Privacy Question?

ok when you comment on somebodies status or a photo or whatever on facebook, a message would appear on your friends home page saying that i have done this.
Is there anyway to stop this so i can comment, add friends or whatever without anybody finding out unless they accidently stumble upon it.
I fount some privacy options in the settings but im not sure if they stop it, just wanna make sure.

yes in your privacy settings.
top right:
SETTINGS/NEWS FEED AND WALL

uncheck everything lol
