Hi Isabella, there's loads of ways to get more followers and I'll mention a few here. In a previous Twitter account I had several thousand. I've recently started a new account and I've just passed 600 followers and growing daily, so I'll tell you what I do...

First and foremost you need to make people want to follow you and this means posting tweets that are funny, interesting, entertaining, useful... Basically that make people want to read more from you. Better quality tweets are also more likely to get retweeted which exposes you to a wider audience of potential followers.

Another way to be seen by new people is to use #hashtags intelligently when you are tweeting about a particular topic - that way when someone searches for that topic they can discover your tweets about it.

Search for people with similar interests to you and initiate conversations & respond to things they've tweeted or asked.

You can post yourself on free twitter directories like WeFollow so again people with similar interests can find you.
