What is the new Facebook "friends online" list on the left side of homepage?
I notice this list indicates only a certain few friends out of the number that are online. Does facebook choose friends that have been in recent communication or activity with to show on the list?
To clarify, the list on the HOME page, with friends underneath, but only about 12 or so, and then there is a "see all" button. Thank you! Or is it just a random compiled list of people? Ads |

It's new to the new layout that came out a few months ago, it picks out people you talk to a lot.

The list on the left comes up when your status is set to online in Facebook Chat. It just shows a few people if the list is long, the ones that appear first in the chat box. I'm not sure if there's a special order...
The main FB chat box is on the right at the bottom of the screen. Click it to see all the people on your friends list that are have their status as online right now (available for chatting). |
