I'm 14, allowed to have Facebook but my mom wants the password!?
I'm 14 years old and very mature.. I want to make a facebook account like all my friends. They say its easier to stay in contact with your friends and you get to know the latest news and everything. I won't give out any personal information (address, phone number, etc). But its just that my mom said i can make facebook, but she wants my password! Why? It's not like I'm gonna post bad pics of me or anything! I just don't want her to know the password.. all my friends have had facebook when they were 11-12 and they're mom never asked for their passwords? What should i do?

-Please no rude comments-

Thank you

you have two choices. 1) Give her the password or 2) wait till you are 18, 19 or 21 whichever age in your state gives you the right to make your own decisions. Do NOT do anything behind her back as some have suggested. This will erode the trust she has in you if she ever finds out and believe me, she WILL find out.

Two solutions I prefer if your mother is still asking for your fb password:-

1. Just access facebook in absense of her and clear your history and cookies after using it if you mother also uses this PC as she can catch you by internet history.

2. Block your mother's facebook account so that she can never see your facebook activity.

Hope this will help u..... enjoy fb Smile

Your mom is being a mom and just trying to protect you. As the other guy said either give her the password or just wait. I mean if you're scared of giving her the password then you may be doing thing she wouldn't approve of or you might just want some personal space. You can just tell her to add you with another account so she can follow what you're doing. It might be a good compromise.

My mom tried to do that with my facebook as well, so we struck a deal, she would add my user and keep tabs on me , then one day i got smart and made one user (the one she sees) and another (my real one that ive blocked her on) so when she asked for the password on my user (the one she sees) i gave it up without a fight and she was pleased to see i was acting all proper lol Tongue

Make the account, give her the password. That will give her the feeling she can trust you. Don't do anything stupid on facebook. Don't post anything stupid, or embarrassing (this is a good rule, no mather how old you are). When you write privately about stuff with your friends, don't write anything she can't read.

The few times she will be bothered to check, she won't find anything interesting.

You get to follow you friends news, communicate and make your mother happy.

All the chat is logged, so she can read it. If you want to chat via FB, don't write anything she can't read.

If you do need to write private stuff, use your phone.

In the philippines , you can have an account in facebook and no required age. even if you are still too young you can still create an acct in fb.

but for me, if your parents wants the password of your account just give it.
but when you are already 18, i think you can change your password.

that's all i can say
im just 17 Smile
