Is there a way that I could remove my facebook profile, but still receive messages?

I so rarely use facebook, my profile is pathetic and I change my picture about once a year...I see no point and I just don't like having it there. The only thing I use it for is keeping up with get-togethers my friends are planning.
Is there a way that I could deactivate my profile but still receive messages?

No, but you could go through the custom security settings so nobody has permission to view your profile.

No you can not get messages. You can deactivate your account but then will no longer recieve messages. Try using another site like soups to stay connected.
