# means to follow
@ means you're tweeting to (in responseor to get their attention) or about that person or you want them to read the tweet so you put their name in it which will show up in their messages (ex: I saw @Brian at the mall yesterday) Ads |

Hey Tom
if you follow me on twitter you will see I do the @ and # symbol often. http://www.twitter.com/VodaTron Here is what # and @ means as for * I don't think it means anything. # - This us known as a hashtag its used to more or less make something stand out like - #Yahoo is cool @ - is know as a mention for another twitter user. if you do a tweet like this - @VodaTron I Love Yahoo it will show it the persons @ mention part but not in the timeline unless your followers are friends with the person you tweet at. if you do a tweet like this - I saw @VodaTron on Yahoo it shows in the persons @ mention and the timeline for all to see. I hope that helps. |
