Noun:use can be a noun too... and in this case, I am do not think it is being used as a verb.
The action of using something or the state of being used for some purpose.

When you speak of 'usage' we look at their general function in theory.

They are usually interchangeable. As a rule of thumb, if either “use” or “usage” seems appropriate, go with “use.” THIS is one of the exceptions:
1.n) accepted or habitual practice
2.(n) the act of using
3.(n) the customary manner in which a language (or a form of a language) is spoken or written
As you can see, exception three applies above, so "usage" is correct.

it'd be use. use and usage are not interchangeable. usage is a noun. so, a person, place or thing. use is a verb. so, an act of using something. examples would be; 'what is your power usage?' and 'i taught him how to use correct punctuation'.
