I really like this girl... what should i do?

Ok, so I'm a lesbian. There's this girl at school who I've really started to like. There are problems though. I've only ever spoken to her once, she's in the year above mine and I think she's straight... I don't know why I like her, I guess because she's such a nice person. It would be hard for me to 'get to know her' as I don't speak to her or her friends in school and I don't want to look creepy saying 'hi' on facebook chat all the time! I'm a bit of a weirdo, only my friends really 'get' me. I just wanna know if I should message her asking her on a date or if I should speak to her or what! I don't know and I have zero confidence... I'm so confused please help me!?

I too am a lesbian, figuring this out recently at the age of 23. And I know exactly where you are coming from. Sometimes it is hard to tell if someone is gay or not and it's especially difficult if you like this person. I had a few crushes in high school that were like that concerning other girls but I never approached them or spoke with them about it. I just let it go. However, looking back, I wish I had somehow approached them. My advice would be to relax and be yourself, however don't approach them and tell them you like them right away. Get to know them as a friend first, but make sure they know exactly who you are. Don't hide that fact. Just don't be too forward with her, just be cool and try to create a friendship with her first.
