Can my friend tell that I ignored his facebook chat?

Facebook now does that annoying thing where you can see if someone saw your message. Well, This kid, is like obsessed with me. It's really annoying, but I dont have the heart to block him or tell him to go away. He's on my wall like, every day and would know I blocked him anyway. But he just messaged me and i clicked into the tab. I didn't click on the chat itself, so it still does that blinking thing it does when you have the chat opened, but didnt click on it. Can he tell that I saw the message?

As long as its still blinking it wont tell him you read it. I do this all the time

yes but there's an option on facebook "advance chat settings" click there and go to the first file it says "turn on chat for all your friends except" and there you will type the name of that annoying boy lol hope it can help you.

Go into your messages, don't click on the chat. You should be able to see what he said :3
And yes, if you click on the chat, he can tell you've seen it.
